Born in Santiago de Cuba, Juan Bauste is a highly respected Cuban percussionist with more than two decades of experience as the musical director of the Conjunto Folklórico del Oriente, the oldest folkloric ballet in Cuba. His musical journey has included numerous performances, tours, and workshops both in Cuba and internationally, making him a leading figure in the Cuban music scene.
Juan has also been involved in recording projects and concerts with iconic artists such as Anga Díaz, Los Papines, and Mercedita Valdés. His deep knowledge of Cuban music, from Salsa, Timba, Mambo, Cha Cha Chá, and Rumba, to the rich traditions of Cuban folklore like Bembé and Conga Oriental, has earned him recognition as one of the top percussionists from Eastern Cuba.
In 2012, Juan moved to Germany at the invitation of the Salsa dance school Conexion and Bongolei Percussion, where he began teaching Cuban music, percussion, and conducting workshops. He is now a sought-after instructor across the country, with extensive experience in both group and individual lessons. His unique teaching style is greatly appreciated by his students.
