Energetic and full of life – this artist gives 110% in every class and on the dance floor! We’re thrilled to announce Andy Gonzalo Varona for UNiDANZA 2025!
Born in Havana, Cuba, Andy’s connection to music and dance has been deep-rooted since his early years. His journey began in the streets, where he quickly became known for his skill in urban genres, especially reggaeton. However, Andy’s true passion lies in folkloric and Afro-Cuban dance, which he honors by staying deeply connected to their rich traditions.
In 2007, Andy’s professional career began when he joined the prestigious Narciso Medina Modern Dance Company in Cuba. Soon after, he immersed himself in Cuban folkloric dance, performing with Raíces Profundas, Conjunto Folclórico Nacional de Cuba, and Banrrara. His time with these companies allowed him to grow as a dancer and perform on Cuba’s largest stages.
In 2014, Andy became a part of the rumba group Osain del Monte, a key moment in his career. That same year, he was awarded the title of First Dancer, the highest recognition granted by the National Council of Performing Arts of Cuba.
Andy’s talents also took him to the world-renowned Buena Vista Social Club, where he performed on Europe’s biggest stages, including the Palais des Congrès in Paris, France.
Since arriving in Europe in 2014, Andy has been a prominent figure in the international festival scene and is now recognized as one of the most talented and sought-after young male dancers. He currently lives in Norway, where he collaborates with his partner Yuliet Estrada on their project Bailan2, spreading the beauty and energy of Cuban dance across Europe and beyond.
We’re excited to have Andy bring his incredible energy and passion to UNiDANZA 2025!
